Governor's Prevention Advisory Council (GPAC) The purpose of the Council is to coordinate the State’s strategic efforts to reduce the inappropriate use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD). The Council will discuss various ATOD prevention efforts, including its strategic planning process, its workgroups’ activities, and an update on the implementation of the federal grant program (California Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral and Treatment Grant Program), which the Council oversees.

Responsive Services for Latinas This one day conference offers the opportunity to dialog and develop an understanding of culturally and gender responsive services for Latinas. It will offer knowledge, skills and inspiration to treatment providers working with the Latina population. Presenters will share current research, resources, and programs and practices from the AOD, mental health and family services. Topics include: Trends in the Latina Population; Best Practices and Models for working with Latinas; Addressing risk factors in working with the Latina population; Engaging Latinas in case management services; Culturally responsive services for Latinas; Addressing the needs of Latina youth; and, Migration, Acculturation and assimilation of the Latina.

18th Annual CalWORKs Partnership Summit: CalWORKs Transformation - Getting California to Work This collaborative Summit offers CalWORKs professionals an exciting array of workshops and sessions designed to expand their knowledge and boost their success in delivering a spectrum of welfare-to-work services. Colleagues from the community colleges, mental health and substance abuse treatment agencies, workforce development organizations and social service departments will network and share strategies to successfully engage participants and promote their self-sufficiency. Reauthorization of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program created significant changes to the CalWORKs program with a renewed emphasis on work activities. The Summit's multitude of workshops will highlight best practices from all disciplines focusing on strong collaboration of social service agencies and multiple partners to ensure the sucess of the CalWORKs program statewide. The Summit's program offers general sessions, workshops and courses with continuing education units (CEUs) geared specifically for all CalWORKs professionals.
